Obituary for Matthew Michael Penney
PENNEY, Matthew Michael-
Korean War Veteran, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, April 5th, 2017. Matthew Penney, Longtime member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #99 , in his 88th year. Son of the late Ronald & Elizabeth Penney. Loving husband of 63 years to Elizabeth (nee Morgan). Proud father of Vincent (Brenda) of Hamilton, Debbie Gagne (Leo) of Foxboro, Michael (Elaine) of Halifax, Denise Joice of Frankford and predeceased by his daughter Rose Marie Rose. Survived by his sisters Jean Sweeney of Halifax, Margaret DiGenova (Joe) of Belleville, and his brothers Patrick (Shirley) of Toronto, Raymond (Susan) of Newfoundland, Kevin (Eleanor) of St. Mary's and Paul (Denise) of Toronto. Predeceased by his brother Richard Penney. Proud poppy to 15 grandchildren and great poppy to 18 great grandchildren, predeceased by great grandson Jackson. In keeping with Matthew's wishes, cremation has taken place. Friends are invited to call at JOHN R BUSH FUNERAL HOME, 80 Highland Ave. Belleville (613-968-5588) Friday from 7-9 p.m. Memorial Mass will be held in the chapel Saturday, April 8th, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. Inurnment will take place at Belleville Cemetery Niche Wall. In lieu of flowers, donations to the charity of your choice are appreciated.
