A Piece of Our Hearts is Now In Heaven

Frank, I just do not know how to start something like this... Not quite sure where to begin... We were born the same year, into families on the same street. For over 40 years, we grew up together in this beautiful small town: played together; laughed together, and always - always - kept tabs on each other, throughout all our life stages. I went away briefly to university but when I returned I moved back into Grandma and Grandpa's house and - once again - it felt like when we were kids. You rode up on your bike nearly every night to visit, and we would chat - mostly small talk - because it was not about what was being said, but rather what was unsaid. And - you were quick to give a compliment every time I got a new vehicle - heaven knows I had a few ... You were just taken by the birth of 3 my girls and, as they grew, you became a part of their childhood memories too. I am so very glad they had the privilege of knowing you. Our favourite night on Scott Street was Halloween - pretty sure it was yours, too. There were cold nights, windy nights and sometimes very rainy nights... There were cranky babies and sick kids and still - there was no way we were gonna miss or skip your house. You always had the best decorations on the road - those window lights!! My girls ran as fast as they could to get to your house - they loved the handfuls of candy and cans of pop you always gave them but they also loved to see your face light up and hear you try to guess what their costumes were. Those 15 minute Halloween Trick-Or-Treating chats will be something we will always remember and miss so dearly. I remember the day you decided you wanted to be called Frank. I said, "Where is Francis?" And you said, "I'm Frank now": proud as a Peacock. So I called you Frank from that day on, but you will always be Francis to me. Thank you so much for always carrying in my countless donation boxes. We always tried to get there when we knew you were helping. Please say hi up There to Grandma Eulah, Grandpa Clifford, Grandpa Dean and Grandma Theresa for us, ok? We love and miss you. Love Jenny Smith (And Brooke, Alyssa and Samantha ❤️)
