Obituary for Blanche Duffee (McKinney)

Blanche Duffee (McKinney)
DUFFEE, BLANCHE – It is with great sadness, we announce the passing of Blanche at the Trenton Memorial Hospital, on Wednesday, January 10th, 2018. Blanche Duffee, formerly of Maple Creek, Saskatchewan was in her 93rd year. Daughter of the late Lawrence and Edith McKinney. Blanche married Jack Duffee after the war. They started a family, built their own tiny home and pioneered Grandview United Church in Moose Jaw. The small family left the prairies and moved to the Quinte area with the RCAF in 1959 where they have remained ever since. In spite of being so far from relatives, life was rich and full for the small family and alive with children’s activities, camping, United Church life and square dancing. It was a life simply lived with humour, socializing and busy times. Blanche worked faithfully for decades on the Education and Student Committee, guiding the education and careers of United Church ministers. She loved the challenge that her faith inspired in her and shared with them her relationship with God in an ever evolving world. Dear mother to Bruce Duffee (Rose), Bonnie Duffee all of Dawson City, Yukon, Neil Duffee of Ottawa, and Boyd Duffee (Sandi) of England. She is survived by sister Olive Bissell (late Kerry), and pre-deceased by sister Lois Harden (late Roy). Lovingly remembered by grandchildren Monica Nordling, Axel Nordling, Mike Duffee, Sean Duffee and Emma Duffee. In keeping with Blanche's wishes, cremation will take place. A memorial service will be held at TRENTON UNITED CHURCH, 85 Dundas St. E., Trenton on Tuesday, January 16th, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. Rev. Isaac Mundy to officiate. Arrangements in the care of the RUSHNELL FUNERAL CENTRE, 60 Division St., Trenton (613-392-2111). Blanche had a genuine interest in people and found good company at Seasons Retirement Home. Mom was at her best: sharing a joke, being occasionally mischievious, commenting on the day’s news. Thank you to the good-spirited staff and residents. Thanks also to the VON support workers and nurses, and the congregation of Trenton United Church for all their kindness and help. If desired, donations to the VON or Trenton United church would be greatly appreciated by the family. For online condolences, please visit www.rushnellfamilyservices.com
