Condolence From: Michael Tremblay
Condolence: Uncle Carl with his Gibson acoustic guitar, his sister (my mom) Linda, and Uncle Tony in Shearwater, Nova Scotia, circa 1977. I was born, raised, and still live in Nova Scotia, while most of my family (including Uncle Carl and his family) lived in Ontario or Quebec, and as such, I only had the opportunity to enjoy their company when they would make the trek out east to visit us or when we would make the pilgrimage to see them. It was always good to spend time with Uncle Carl, Aunt Elaine, and Cousins, Susan, Keith, and Max. During an ill-conceived and poorly executed solo hitchhiking trip from Montreal to Toronto in the very cold winter of 1989 when I was 19 years old, I found myself having to seek refuge in a homeless shelter when the lodging arrangements I had made fell through on my arrival in the mighty and frigid T-dot. After several days of frightening interactions with some of the less peaceful residents of the shelter, I was elated one day to see my cousin Keith, who was now a Police Officer, had come to my aid at the behest of my uncle Carl who had been informed of my plight by my very worried mother. Thanks to Keith’s assistance, and to Uncle Carl’s generosity, I was soon on a train bound for home in Nova Scotia in time for Christmas. I am very fortunate to have had an uncle like Carl, and only regret that as the years wore on, that we didn’t get to see more of him and his family. I raise a glass to Uncle Carl, with whom I share a birthday, knowing that he will be missed dearly by his family and friends. Michel “Mike” Tremblay

Condolence: Although we were never blessed with knowing Carl we have been blessed with the presence/friendship of his son (Keith). We can only venture to guess that the respect, love, sympathy, understanding, patience and kindness we see in Keith are just a few of his many wonderful traits that he inherited from his parents!! Carl, you are leaving behind a wonderful legacy!!! You will always remain in our thoughts and prayers....GOD BLESS YOU CARL.

Condolence: It is odd to think that I will never pick up the phone and hear your voice again. I know we did not see each other but you were always only a phone call away. I did not tell you enough how brave I thought you were with all your health problems. You were in inspiration to others. I am sure Nanny, and your sisters Grace, Shirley, Sylvia, Sally and Linda welcomed you into heaven with open arms. Condolences and prayers to Aunt Elaine, Susan, Max, and Keith

Condolence From: Bertha, Greg & Lori
Condolence: Elaine, Max, Susan, Keith and families, We were saddened to hear of Carl’s passing. All of us have fond memories of him during family vacations at your house. Greg remembers Carl frying chips in the goose fat and how delicious they tasted. Lori was always fascinated by his budgie birds and how the bird would whistle at itself in front of the toaster. Carl was a funny character and we all remember fun, laughter and feeling so welcome at your home. Although we will not be attending his funeral, please know that you are all in our thoughts and prayers.

Condolence: Elaine, Susan, Max and Keith So sorry to hear about Carl. I have some wonderful memories from when we "kids" were kids, mostly the joking and laughter. Most of those adults are gone from our lives now but I imagine the Chipman clan are all together somewhere and having a hoot. Our thoughts are with you. Linda and Len
