BEER, George Everett – It is with great sadness and heavy hearts we announce the passing of George Beer, peacefully at home surrounded by family on Monday, July 16th, 2018, in his 82nd year. Raised by the late Orval Beer and Nellie Beer (nee Treverton). Son of the late Everett and Margaret Beer. George will be dearly missed by beloved wife Betty Beer (nee Cross). Loving father to Bonnie (Michael) Watson, Barry (Lisa Pongracic) Beer and Bryan (Janice) Beer. Loving brother to Dale (Sharon) Beer, and Terry (Lynn) Beer. Predeceased by sister Fern (Howard) Cochrane, and brothers Hershel (Ruth) Beer, and Lance (Debbie) Beer. Brother in-law to Sarah Locke, Doris Cross, Doris DeMille, and Earl Cross. Loving Grandfather to Amanda (Andrew) Visser, Adam (Julia) Watson, Tyler Beer, and Brock Beer. Great Grandfather to Taya Visser, Kayden Visser, Kendrick Visser, and Cole Watson. George was dedicated to serving his community. He was amongst the founding members for the Thurlow Volunteer Fire Department, Deputy Reeve, and Reeve in Thurlow for 18 years, member of Belleville City Council for 9 years, active member at St. Mark’s United Church in Cannifton, and avid sports fan all throughout his life. George will be remembered by the love he had for his community - always striving to make a positive difference. Last but not least, the love he had for his family. Friends may call at the JOHN R. BUSH FUNERAL HOME, 80 Highland Ave., Belleville (613-968-5588) on Thursday, July 19th, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. A Memorial Service to celebrate Georges life will be held at St. Mark's United Church, Belleville on Friday, July 20th, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. Reverend Ryan McNally officiating. If desired, donations to the St. Mark's United Church, Belleville or Charity of Choice, would be greatly appreciated by the family.
