Obituary for James 'Jim' Douglas Martelle

James 'Jim' Douglas Martelle
JAMES DOUGLAS MARTELLE

August 21, 1939 – August 6, 2018

It is with utter sorrow that we announce the passing of Jim Martelle. Jim was the well-known, well-respected, and well-loved owner/operator of Signs by Martelle in Trenton for over 33 years following his retirement as a Sergeant with 21 years in the Air Force. He was Past President of both the Trenton Kinsmen Club and the K-40 Club and a fan/season ticket holder of the Trenton Golden Hawks.
Jim is predeceased by his Wife Claudette of 53 years, his Mother Mary, his Father Elgin, his Brother Ted, his Brother Tom and his long time friend/employee Steve Hoyt. He leaves behind his Step-Mother Gayle, his Brothers Mike, Marty and Paul and his Sister Tanya.
Dad will be sadly missed by his children Jim (Carrie) Martelle of Trenton, his Daughter Christine (Wayne) Whitley of Trenton and his Daughter Anne-Marie (Peter) Cunningham of Wooler.
Jim's Grandchildren Sarah (Allen) Magee and Jimmy Martelle gave Jim 3 beautiful Great-Grandchildren; Owen Martelle, Finn Magee and Oliver Magee, that he adored with all his heart.
Although Jim only had 3 children, he was looked up to and loved by many others that he cherished like his own. Michele Huddleson and Dave deWal were 2 whom he loved very much and was very proud of.
Jim's memory will be cherished by his loving friend Eva Hilts. Special thanks to Dad's Nurse Greg and PSW Kimberly from Paramed as well as his Occupational Therapist Alison from Veterans Affairs. They all provided him (and all of us) with compassionate and caring support.
Donations to the Lung Association or the Cancer Society in Jim's honour would be appreciated by the family.
Cremation has taken place. Inurnment to take place at a later date.Friends and family are invited to share memories of Jim at the Trent Port Marina at 15 Creswell Drive in Trenton on Thursday, August 16, 2018 between 6 pm and 9 pm.
