Condolences & Tributes

I was always excited when Uncle Roy was expected at the cottage. Not only did he bring cashews for my mother, beer for he and Dad, he brought a full watermelon for us kids. It also meant we would have fresh fish, often for breakfast, a good game of frustration and scrabble, and a fly fishing lesson (informally). Time out on the water with Uncle Roy was always time well spent. He was a very gentle soul.
Peggy Hurley (nee Torney) - Friday January 11, 2019 via Condolence Message
For as long as I remember I have memories of Uncle Roy. At auntie Sylvia and Uncle Don's condo, the cottage, greating him with auntie Sylvia when he would arrive in Hamilton after a long drive from Halifax. Christmas Eve birthday/Christmas celebrations and in later years picking him up from the Hamilton airport when he came for his annual holiday visit with his sister. He was quiet but warm and there was something so special about him that when you were in his presence you just felt good. He was amazing in so many ways but so humble that no one would ever know his greatness if his family didn't share his stories, unless you had the honour of sitting by his side to soak up all that his eyes and his smile told you.
