I am a tenant in one of the buildings where Cliff and Mary were superintendants. I have fond memories of both of them. They were kind to me, and often helped when I went away for winter holidays and I needed someone to care for my car.

I have a funny story to tell, told to me by Mary. Mary came home one day, and their little dog was barking and barking and "going crazy". Cliff wasn't home. Mary looked to see what was bothering the dog, and she found a cat in the apartment. She recognized the cat as her next door neighbour's cat.

When Cliff got home, she chastized him for letting the cat into the apartment, demanding to know why he would let the cat into their apartment. Cliff said he didn't let the cat in. There seemed to be no other explanation, and they argued over it, with Mary accusing him of letting the cat in and Cliff denying it. One of them carried the cat next door to the neighbour and that might have been the end of the story.

However, some time later, Mary was about to do dishes and opened the cabinet below the sink to get the dish detergent. The neighbour's cat was just sitting there, and in fact it scared Mary. What she and Cliff finally figured out was that someone had repaired the pipes under the sink, and the workers left enough of a hole between the two apartments that the cat could crawl through. I guess the cat liked to do surprise visits and tease the dog!

Rest in peace, Cliff. And my condolences to the family.

as a neighbor and a young man growing up in Brighton I worked with cliff doing lawns, delivering purchase from the auction, cutting trees, anything someone needed done cliff was there to help. he instilled in me a good work ethic that I took into my career and life. I wish he would have been able to come up north and visit and get some fishing in as we discussed the last time we visited. will miss you!

To Cliff's family: You don't know me but I have been a friend of Jackie Terry's (Wayne) for nearly 40 years and know her family and Cliff's brother Percy very well. I ended up living in the front building at 60 Prince Edward Street for 2001-2003 while Cliff and Mary were the superintendents. He always had a smile to share and a story to tell when he came to pick up the rent. I often teased him that if he spent an hour or more with every tenant when he collected the rent it would take him 3 days to get the job done. He did everything he could to make living in the complex enjoyable and was always friendly and good to my young adult children when they came to visit. I know he and Mary were a team and that he has missed her so much since she passed away and is now back with her and his other loved ones that he loved, cherished and missed. I haven't lived in Brighton for 3 years now but I am friends with another tenant who misses him too and we have told each other stories of the little things he did to make the tenant's life my enjoyable. He never left without ensuring that I had a smile on my face that matched the one that was always on his! The world has lost a wonderful person and you have lost a caring, loving and incredible family member!
