Life Member and Past Sgt. At Arms, Royal Canadian Legion, Br. No. 99, Belleville -

Peacefully entered into rest on Friday, March 20th, 2020 at the Hastings Manor Long Term Care Facility, Belleville. Jim Stewart was the son of the late Andrew & Annie Stewart (nee Mitchell) and husband of the late Shirley (nee Stewart). Jim leaves to mourn his two children: daughter Gloria Koomen and husband Bill, and son Bruce Stewart and wife Shirley, all of Belleville. Pre-deceased by brother Andrew Bruce Stewart Jr. He was the best Papa ever to his loving granddaughter Mackenzie Marie Ann Koomen. Retired from the Royal Canadian Armed Forces and Hastings & Prince Edward Board of Education.

In keeping with Jim’s wishes, cremation will take place. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, services will be held at a late date to be announced. Arrangements entrusted to the John R. Bush Funeral Home, 80 Highland Ave., Belleville (613-968-5588).

If desired, donations to Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Fund, War Amps of Canada, Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family. For online condolences, and to share memories of Jim, please visit:

so sorry for your loss,

I met Jimmy-gloria and bruce at Hastings manor -Jimmy loved the accordion/guitar/harmonica -jigs and reels and singing along-gloria and brother bruce were always there visiting and comforting their father-jimmy would call out and there they were-I was very impressed with this closeness and dedication I just had to mention-thank you jimmy, gloria,bruce for -respect /love for father jimmy-rest in peace
