To the Family, I have such wonderful memories of your parents and brother Danny from the time they spent here in London. Both Bryn and Janet were such inspirations to me as a new leader and I was honored that they had their retirement service at The Salvation Army Wycliffe Booth House. They often told the story of how they met and it was clear they were so much in love. They encouraged and guided our Corrections Team. I am so sorry for your loss at this time.

I was sorry I learned of Janets promotion to glory only today. I attended the Army in Trenton with her and Danny. She was a loving mother and a strong Christian. With a warm smile she made anyone she came in contact with loved. My condolences to all her family.

Melanie, Alison, Tracy & Danny:

Over the past almost 45 years, I have considered your parents to be my friends. When you all arrived in Trenton and your parents took up their new responsibilities in ministry, I was there! Your mom blessed me in so many ways.

She lovingly prepared pie (all I can remember is blueberry) and I graciously accepted a slice whenever possible. Your kitchen on Second Avenue wasn't very big, but I felt loved when I was able to sit at the table and be part of the conversation.

Your mum was able to overlook some of my quirks and she didn't let me get away with anything. If I made a snide remark, she was quick to come back with a word of correction. If I was feeling down on my self, she was quick to give a word of encouragement. Her laugh tickles my ear, even as I remember it now.

I remember my last visit with your parents in Smithfield in September 2005. I was able to thank them for all that they had done for me over the years. It was my joy to pray with them knowing that they had been a huge influence on my life, including the ones who started the process for my entering ministry.

Visiting with your mum in her home in Brighton was always quick, but I am grateful for those moments.

Your grief journey started a few years ago as the mum you knew began to slip away. Her absence has been felt for so long. I hope that you will know that you are not alone on this journey. Trusting that the God who called your parents to ministry and used them mightily is present for you today.

Please know that you are in my heart and in my prayers as you honour your mum.

Blessings of comfort and peace, my friends.
