Obituary

SARTY, Kathleen Margot (nee Rendall) -

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Kathleen Sarty at the Ottawa General Hospital on Wednesday April 22nd, 2020 after a courageous battle with leukemia. Kathleen Sarty of Belleville was 69. She leaves behind to mourn her much loved husband of 47 years, Paul L. Sarty, as well as her children Timothy Sarty (Agnieszka) of Lodz, Poland and Laura Gregory (John) of Chatham, Ontario. She will be forever loved and cherished by her 10 grandchildren; Nicole, Dylan, Aleksandra, Hannah, Liam, Olivia, James, Matthew, Sophia and Naomi. She is also survived by her brother Stephen Rendall (Debbie) of Guelph and sister-in-law Phyllis Rendall of Arthur, Ontario. Kathleen is predeceased by her parents Robert and Helen Rendall, and her brother Lawrence Rendall. She leaves behind loving nieces, nephews, and countless dear friends.

As a devoted nurse, Kathy touched many people in her role as case manager at the Community Care Access Center in Belleville. She was instrumental in bringing union rights to her fellow nurses in Home Care. She was a mentor and friend to many. In her later years she found great friendship and joy with the Belleville Bridge Club. Her greatest love were her grandchildren to whom she was devoted. She will be forever missed. May she Rest in Peace. Due to the restrictions in place regarding COVID-19, a Private Family Service will be held at the JOHN R. BUSH FUNERAL HOME, 80 Highland Ave. Belleville (613-968-5588). In lieu of flowers, donations to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada or Hospice Quinte are appreciated by the family. There will be a interment, memorial service and reception when circumstances allow.

Paul , Laura and Tim and families ..I am thinking of you at this time . I want to share that when I think of Kathy I think of the first person I met and my mentor at the Home Care Program . I have read the comments describing her as calm, trustworthy, professional and strong and I have to agree that these are great descriptors of her. But when I think of Kathy I think of her ability to share life stories in a manor that was like no other . Her stories would bring the biggest smile to your face. Her story telling was captivating and surprising … always true / always complex but most always a sharing of innocence with humor creating a descriptive visual of her experience allowing you to laugh with her. These stories created much joy and almost always taught you about a way of looking at life that you may never had thought of.

Kathy Rendall Sarty, a beautiful wise soul with a wonderful wit and a sparkle in her eye. She brought so much to this world. Kathy saw through the superficial facades of others straight into their hearts. A much-beloved and trusted friend. She will live on in the memories of her colleagues, patients and their loved ones as a registered nurse who brought wisdom, strength, calm and grace to her practice. Condolences to Kathy's precious family, Paul, Tim, Laura, and all of her very dear grandchildren. Kathy may your soul rest in blessed peace. Safe home.

I feel so blessed to be able to call her my friend. So many memories from work, bus trips and holidays together. What a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, nurse and friend she was. Humble and kind it was always about others. Her laughter was contagious. My heart goes out to you Paul, Laura, Tim and families. My life was enriched by knowing her.....forever in my heart.
Love to you all Julie Jones
