Whenever I think of Uncle Frank, and this has remained true for decades, my immediate memory is of how he shocked a gaggle of little kids.
Frank and his brothers were all interested in engine mechanics, perhaps out of necessity in the early 50's and indeed, Adrian, Allison and James took up mechanics as their trade. Well, one summer day while on the homestead in Blisfield NB, Frank and probably Al were working on a car engine in the driveway while a collection of 3 to 6 year olds, all cousins as I recall, played nearby. With his head under the hood, Frank called the kids and told them to hold hands in a chain and he grabbed the hand of the kid closest to him. With his other hand Uncle Frank, you dear soul, touched an ignition wire! We learned two things immediately. That the human body is a great conductor of electricity, and that the last man in the chain will be the one to feel it.
I can't recall who the last kid was; it may well have been me, explaining why I recall it so vividly to this day. Despite that shocking incident Uncle Frank, we still love you and will miss your sense of humor and wisdom.
If anybody else remembers that day in 1953 or 1954, please declare yourself and fill in any blanks or correct any errors in my recollection from over 60 years ago.
