When I was a child the annual visits that Aunty Rene and Uncle Eric made to England were an exciting and in some way exotic part of the year. They were the only relatives we had who lived abroad and arrived by plane bringing presents and gossip of places we'd never seen and people we'd never met. Rene would talk almost nonstop to get her 'fix' of UK news and download all the family stories. As age crept on those visits became less frequent but equally cherished. Our thoughts are with you all now and hope that we can still keep in touch with our 'exotic' Canadian relatives without the common link that was the lovely Rene and kindly Eric.
