The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of John Erwin can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Dan Kennedy

I met Jack in May of 1967 when I joined Northern Electric in Ottawa. I was a 20 year old, shy and somewhat naive new college graduate. Jack immediately took me under his wing and introduced me into the high tech world. He always had a smile and of course a way of playing practical jokes. Jack sat two desks away from me in the lab and this one day I decided to play a joke on him. He was testing a new circuit board and when Jack was doing paper work at his desk I placed a hot soldering iron, with some rubber over it, under his board. Smoke began curling up from the test bench and I never saw Jack move so fast to see what was going on. We both had a chuckle over this incident. I lost contact with Jack after 1969 and often wondered where he ended up. I live near the house he lived in Glen Cairn. Jack was a great peer at work, always had a smile for you and I feel privileged to have known him. I offer you my sincere condolences for your loss of a great and caring man.
