The day Gord got angry. It was during our first fishing expedition to Temagami Lake. We were fishing at the mouth of Shining Wood Bay. Suddenly Gord shouted “ Get the net. I got a lanker”. I rushed to get the net. Apparently I was not dexterous enough to successfully net it quickly . It got away. The ones that get away in piscastorial parlance are the big, the huge ones. That’s how the myths of the big one that got away were born. Gord’s face flushed with anger. “ You better get a course in Netting 101, before you set foot on my boat again”, he said. I never took Netting 101. For the next 18 years I fished with Gord on his boat.
