The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Fred Deacon can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Dear Cathy and family, So sad to hear the news of the passing of your father. I can't help but think back to our university days when we met and when I had the honour and pleasure of meeting your dad, mom and brother. Your family was so welcoming to me and made me feel like a part of the family. Yours was my home away from home. I remember your mom and dad always made sure we were well fed and well taken care of. I think now of the link our families had - I grew up unpacking boxes from Deacon Brothers in my dad's clothing store. I can remember the Deacon Brothers logo vividly. Little did I know that 15 years later I would help you move into residence at York University. Some of the happiest days of my life. I know all to well what its like to lose a parent, and I know how fond you were of your dad. Your dad and your mom are very special people. If I was there right now I'd give you and your mom a big hug. However difficult it is remember that your dad will be with you always - in your heart. Cherish the memories and know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Rest in peace Mr. Deacon. Thank you for all you taught this young man just starting out. You will never be forgotten. Rob
