To my beloved (and only) uncle...as a child in the Uk I remember this giant of a man, dashing and handsome in his uniform, who would arrive from some foreign land, and regale the assembled company with his stories. I adored his visits and held him in awe. His stories never lost their wonder, even in his old age, when I had heard them many times! With our young family, he and Auntie Pam would entertain us on holiday at their lakeside home in Dartmouth, sailing and swimming and sunshine, and in his later years my husband Richard and I had the pleasure of spending more time with him whilst he was writing his memoirs on his vacations in Spain and Devon, and shared many happy meals with him. Uncle Dick, I love you and miss you. Sail into the sunset and rest in peace.
