My Grandfather

My grandfather has lived just over 100 years. In his life he has seen the world, fought for it in World War 2, met the love of his life, married her, and helped bring three daughters into the world. He has seen the birth of 9 grandchildren and almost a dozen great-grandchildren. He taught me to fish in the ocean. He showed me the wonders of naval ships and the way they work, something I still enjoy reading up on and researching to this day for fun. He showed me that it didn’t matter how old you were in order to keep learning when he got his doctorate in the later years of his life. He taught me that strength was something we all had and that we could be proud in everything we did, no matter how small or large. I will miss him dearly but I know that after his long, full and eventful life it is his time to move on. Nana is waiting for him and will be there tapping her foot and looking at her watch as he arrives to walk on the beaches with her for the rest of time.
