The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Robert Koning can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

The lighting of a Memorial Candle not only provides a gesture of sympathy and support to the immediate family during their time of need but also provides the gift of extending the Book of Memories for future generations.

A great friend

Rob and I met at the Ten Acre truck stop where we worked together back in 1994. I left to become an apprentice truck mechanic. I would come back to visit Rob and he had interest in becoming an apprentice as well, so I talked to my boss and told them I knew of a great guy so they hired Rob. Rob was very smart and worked very hard and become an amazing mechanic that could tackle any job put in front of him. He became one of the main engine, transmision and diagnostic techs for the company. We spent alot of time together when we worked in Pickering and he became a great friend. We hung out together, camped together, did side jobs together, he was in my wedding and I chauffeured Stacey and him in my old Chevelle for their wedding, he even left work early once to rescue me off the 401 when I broke down and towed my car home. Years past and life changed but when we saw each other we would always grab a coffee and chat. I am going to miss that so much. Rob was meticulous with his vehicles, I can still picture Rob in his shiny dark blue Monte Carlo with his chrome rims and bright white lettered tires listening to April Wine. Rest in piece brother! Untill we see each other again.
